The Golden Rules: Candle Safety

At LBCC, we want you to enjoy your hand-poured candles with total peace of mind. To ensure a safe and beautiful experience in your home, please follow these industry-standard safety guidelines:

1. The Three-Foot Rule Always keep your burning candle within sight. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. Keep candles at least three feet away from anything that can catch fire, including curtains, bedding, books, and home décor.

2. Watch the "Four-Hour" Limit We recommend burning your candles for no more than 4 hours at a time. This prevents the glass from becoming too hot and ensures the wick remains stable and centered.

3. Clear the Clutter Keep the "wax pool" (the melted wax on top) free of wick trimmings, matches, or any debris. These can act as secondary wicks and cause the flame to grow dangerously large.

4. Location, Location, Location Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Avoid drafty areas like open windows, ceiling fans, or air vents, as drafts can cause uneven burning and excessive smoking.

5. Protect Your Surfaces Never burn a candle all the way to the bottom. Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains. This prevents the bottom of the vessel from overheating and protects your furniture.

6. Safe Extinguishing Use a candle snuffer to extinguish your flame. It’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering and reduces smoke. Never use water to extinguish a candle.

7. Keep Out of Reach Always store and burn your candles out of reach of children and pets.
