Sitting along the southern shore of Lake Monroe, where the St. Johns River flows through, Sanford has been connected to the water from the very beginning. In the 1870s, Henry Sanford envisioned the city as a transportation hub, with steamboats carrying people and goods along the river to a growing Central Florida.

Sanford also has deep roots in Florida’s citrus history. At his nearby Belair grove and experimental garden, Henry Sanford grew more than 140 varieties of citrus, including the Valencia orange.

Today, Sanford’s historic downtown is filled with local restaurants, breweries, shops, galleries, and plenty of reasons to wander a few blocks off the RiverWalk. Lake Monroe and the St. Johns are still very much part of the city, whether you're arriving by boat, walking along the waterfront, or watching the Rivership make its way across the lake.

Sanford pays tribute to the city’s citrus-growing past with bright grapefruit, orange, and lemon, followed by mandarin and pomegranate. Vetiver and cedar add an earthy, woodsy finish that keeps the citrus fresh rather than sweet.
